About E-Ulogy

A few things came together for this idea to come to life. Having just watched an acting related video, I wanted to know if I remembered this monologue I had performed awhile back. Inspiration quickly hit me, and before I knew it, I was writing a new one. I wrote this as I performed it, versus sitting down and putting the words on paper. I kept going, finding new things, making adjustment. I was still writing it while got to recording it. After I thought I had it, I went back, and took another afternoon to shoot the final product, finally having words paper this time around.

An obvious factor in writing this is that we were in the middle of a pandemic, in the Spring of 2020, many people going through a difficult time. Self-isolation was at the forefront, in order to protect each other from the virus…while mental health took a backseat. I would hear or read about people having “virtual” funerals. I had recently talked a friend through a difficult time. Finally, there was a film festival that encouraged people to create something exclusively shot at home, with whoever you were isolated with (if anyone). Living alone, I was limited in what I could do. So within those limitations, I set out to create something simple. I accepted that production value wasn’t going to be anywhere near my previous film Overcover and focused on storytelling and performance.
